About the role

Under the supervision of the MHPPS coordinator, the psychologist will be responsible for providing client group mental health sessions, supporting emergency cases, and conducting appropriate referrals to other mental health actors. The psychologist will provide interventions based on the client’s needs and the Greek regulations for the provision of mental health services. If in possess of a Greek license, the Psychologist will be responsible for providing services to clients of Fenix suffering with mental health concerns. The psychologist will provide psychological interventions based on the client’s needs. Fenix is especially focused on survivors of violence.

  • Follow internationally recognized best practices for evidence based psychological interventions and the managementof clients with mental health concerns, as well as guiding principles for gender-based violence and child protection.
  • Support, check on and provide recommendations on volunteers well-being and mental health.
  • Design a protection plan based on the client’s needs, draft reports and carry out referrals to other services.
  • Collaborate and liaise with other mental health actors on the island.
  • Provide psycho-education sessions and psycho-social support groups to asylum seekers.
  • Collaborate with the rest of the team to exchange information and ensure that Fenix programs are responding to theevolving needs of refugees.
  • All Fenix team members must comply with the values and principles outlined in the Fenix code of conduct and Policies.

About Fenix

Fenix – Humanitarian Legal Aid is a US non-profit organization and Greek MKO, federally registered with Greece’s Ministry of Migration and Asylum.

Our multidisciplinary team of lawyers, protection officers, legal assistants, translators, psychologists and experts from different academic backgrounds, provides legal aid, protection and psychosocial services to refugees and asylum seekers on Lesvos, while advocating for a more just and equitable asylum system.

What we are looking for:

  • Licensed International or Greek psychologist. Priority will be given to psychologist with a Greek licence.
  • Fluent in English. Other languages are an asset (French, Arabic, Farsi/Dari, Lingala, Somali).Professional experience providing psychological interventions to vulnerable populations.
  • Experience supporting humanitarian workers Knowledge of different culturally relevant therapeutic techniques.
  • Experience conducting assessments, using screening tools and creating individual care plans for clientsPositive and professional attitude, including ability to work in a team setting and under pressure. Ability. to conduct counselling sessions with Translators.
