About Fenix

Fenix – Humanitarian Legal Aid is a US non-profit organization and Greek MKO, federally registered with Greece’s Ministry of Migration and Asylum.

Our multidisciplinary team of lawyers, protection officers, legal assistants, translators, psychologists and experts from different academic backgrounds, provides legal aid, protection and psychosocial services to refugees and asylum seekers on Lesvos, while advocating for a more just and equitable asylum system.

About the role

Our operations team is the crucial driving force that allows us to be able to do the work we do. Under the supervision of the Head of Programs and Executive Director, and with the support of Operations Officers and Fenix’s accountant, the Operations Coordinator will;

  • Do monthly grant management and financial accounting
  • Ensure proper financial, logistics and information management systems and control mechanisms are in place and followed
  • Manage human resources in line with existing policies and procedures - including but not limited to ensuring staff introduction, payroll or stipend preparation, holiday and leave management, updating HR policies and procedures, holding contract conversations
  • Manage and organise the organisation’s shared resources (offices, car, office supplies, finances, pool of interpreters) 
  • Oversee the identification and fulfilment operational needs
  • Monitor the team’s wellbeing, ensuring they have proper administrative and emotional support
  • Organise activities for team building and team meetings
  • Collect and deliver all the required operational, financial and HR documents
  • Create logistical responses to changing context
  • Assist with other administrative and logistic needs that may arise

What we are looking for

  • Degree in relevant field 
  • High command of spoken and written English. Command of Greek is a strong asset.
  • Previous experience in accounting, HR and/or logistics
  • Previous experience in people management
  • Excellent communication and organisation skills
  • Strong multi-tasking and prioritising skills
  • Pro-active and independent working
  • Committed to human rights
  • Driving license is required
