I volunteered in various psychological associations concerned with the rights of our clients and the destigmatization of mental disorders

I have a background in Clinical Psychology and Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT). I've been working for two years as a psychotherapist in training, five years as a psychologist doing diagnostics and volunteered in various psychological associations concerned with the rights of our clients and the destigmatization of mental disorders.

I felt enraged by the injustice done to people who already experienced situations that are beyond my imagination, the conditions of the camps and systematic violations of human rights within Europe

I came to Lesvos because I felt enraged by the injustice done to people who already experienced situations that are beyond my imagination, the conditions of the camps and systematic violations of human rights within Europe. At some point I started longing to provide sustainable support within an organization that seeks to empower its clients to make informed decisions and navigate their lives and helps them to build resiliency. A friend of mine, who was cooperating with Fenix, told me how much impact the Fenix approach had despite all the systematic obstacles. I started following Fenix online and was immediately inspired by the passion, creativity and dedication of all the members and impressed by the high quality and diversity of Fenix’ activities. I love working in multi professional teams as I appreciate learning about different perspectives and combining our skills to a holistic approach. I feel honored to be able to join this amazing team. During my studies and work in psychiatric wards I learned how to put the ideas, resources and needs of my clients in the centre of our support. It always strikes me how many ideas, skills and experience each of our clients already brought to our work and how much difference any kind of information (legal, psychological or logistic) made to their mindset and resilience. In my eyes it is extremely important to carefully listen to each person instead of just making assumptions based on previous experience or things that I have heard elsewhere. I want to get more in touch with persons that are directly affected and learn about their perspectives. I am hoping to get a better understanding of the impact of migration policies on this complex situation and to make a contribution to upholding human rights and dignity.
